My search for the perfect yet cheap espresso maker

I’ve recently moved into a new apartment with my boyfriend and we are in the process of slowly buying all of the kitchen appliances that we need. We have all of the basics but I really wanted an espresso maker. I crave that caffeine hit first thing of a morning, and although an espresso maker is not really a necessity, I desperately wanted to treat myself to one.

As money was (and still is) a little tight, I needed to search for the best espresso maker under $100, that was of of high quality, looked good, but would also last. So where did I start?
Well, I started by asking friends what espresso makers they had. This also meant that I could taste test the coffee. Friends always give you great advice and I got an idea of the best brands out there.
I then went onto Amazon and did a search for espresso makers under $100. There were a lot! I narrowed the search down a little by considering the star ratings that were given and what reviews people had left. I love Amazon, but the only downside is that you can’t physically ‘see’ the item you want to buy. I wanted to feel how sturdy the espresso maker was and to get an actual idea of how it would look. This is difficult to do from an image.

So I then went off with my list of espresso makers that I had found and trawled the mall. I looked in both Walmart and Target and I found several of the makers I had found on Amazon, surprisingly for around the same price.

For me, an espresso maker just needs to make a decent cup of espresso. I don’t need an ‘all singing and all dancing’ espresso maker. Luckily I found the perfect one. There are lots on the market for under $100. The perfect one is out there for you too.

Top Nonstick Cookware to Buy for Cooking at Home

nonstick pan

Following their growing popularity and multiple options to choose from, getting the best nonstick cookware to buy for your home use is no longer an easy feat. You might have gotten accustomed to the traditional stainless steel cooking pots and pans, every day preparing your favorite food and cleaning them. What if I introduce you a much better and reasonable set of cookware? Besides being easy to handle, nonstick cookware has the advantage of easy cleaning and even allows you to cook your food with significantly reduced amount of fat. For a set that’s bound to last, here’s my carefully selected list.

Woll Diamond Plus Nonstick Cookware

As modest as it appears, the German-designed ten-piece nonstick cookware is made with unmatched precision, ensuring the set endure the tedious kitchen chores. They are made using ultra-hard coating, thus resistant to cuts and scratches. Diamond being an excellent heat conductor, your food will heat up four times faster than stainless steel pots and pans. Additionally, each of them come with a lid, ergonomic handles, and are dishwasher safe.

Anolon Advanced Bronze Collection Set

From their break-resistant glass lids, the non-stick lining, and the aluminum base, this 11-piece cookware is among the best nonstick kitchenware. Their state-of-the-art design would have pushed them to the first position only that they can’t be dish washed. However, they are an excellent selection.

Circulon Symmetry Nonstick Cookware Set

Besides the nonstick cookware sets aforementioned, Circulon Symmetry 11-Pc’s hard anodized set is a great substitute for the aging stainless steel cookware. The silicon lining their handles offer that grip, and they are designed with outstanding technology, ensuring that all your food is evenly cooked. I particularly liked their signature impact bonded stainless steel base.

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Nonstick Set

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Nonstick Cookware Set, having used a sizeable number of nonstick cookware to date, if you want a great set at a much-reduced budget, go for this one. The orange porcelain outer coating with a nonstick interior offers a perfect blend for such a handy set. Porcelain is highly fragile, and thus lots of caution ought to be observed with this set.

Paula Deen Nonstick 15-Pc Porcelain Enamel Set

While this set is great for anyone on a budget, their heating consistency, their nonstick properties and their 8-colors and design, earntonsof acceptance. In fact, they are lightweight albeit they quickly lose their great look as you use them due to persistent scratching. They still rank among my finest nonstick cookware.

Kitchen Knives that don’t Slash the Budget

There is an old adage, ‘When the only tool you have is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail.” As a frequent amateur chef, I began to realize this saying in how I prepared meals. I had a food processor and a cheese grater, and basically any other utensil I could get my hands on that saved me from having to use a knife. Why you might ask? Because I was using the same old kitchen knives, literally, that my mother had given me. I was blinded to the fact that my lack of effective, razor sharp cutlery was affecting how and what I cooked up.

The problem was, every time I read best knife sets reviews online, it seemed the options were either terrible quality, or a knife set that would require a second mortgage. I truly felt like I was caught between a rock and a hard place. I knew I needed to do something, but didn’t have any ideas. As luck would have it, I attended a birthday dinner at a local Japanese Hibachi restaurant. I was no surprised to see the grill master slicing and dicing with a superior looking blade. Given my recent desire for better cutlery, I had to find out where he had gotten his knife. I was stunned to find out that it was not an expensive Japanese knife, in fact it was a Henckel’s knife. As in J.A. Henckels, affordable American cutlery.

When I got home, I quickly went to work to find some kitchen knife set reviews for the Henckel’s set. I found out that while they don’t have a huge market share, they are wildly popular with anyone who has purchased them! Just as importantly, I was able to buy them for under 200 dollars. This was a complete shock, as every top rated Japanese set of knives I looked at cost thousands of dollars.

I ordered my only set of Henckels knives and have been thrilled. I say it was my only set because the blades have incredible staying power. I’ve had them sharpened only once in five years and they still are great for cutting the garlic thin enough that it will liquify immediately in a pan. I have since made an army out of Henckels believers, and everyone I have recommended them to has had the same experience. I once thought that an inexpensive set of kitchen knives that did the trick was a pipe dream, but my J.A. Henckels have shown me that a great knife can be found without breaking the bank.

Best Knife Sets for a Future Chef

We know we need to give our son some gift when he passes those Master Chef examinations. He may not be a Cordon Bleu chef, but he will still be somebody whom everybody around here would be proud to be acquainted with. We were thinking of a couple of knife sets. Knowing my son, he may well be starting a small eatery of his own so those will come handy. I’d begun my search for knife sets almost six months ago. I came across some of the best knife sets reviews, which I hope my son will approve of.
knife set
I feel he would need J.A. Henckels International’s 8 piece steak cutting knives. I prefer the straight edge ones over serrated edge though most people think serrated edged knives last longer. I feel my son would need clean cuts many times, and so he would be better off with these small knives which are made from high carbon steel. I liked the fact that they are not heavy. Personally, heavy knives make me avoid some chores, but I don’t know what my son has to say about his set. In any event, this set costs only $40 or so. Therefore, he could afford to use it in his eatery and let his employees use them. I opted for them because of lifetime warranty, and the fact that they are one piece construction. The blades of many knives that I bought over the years divorced their handles, so that may be another reason I am opting for this set. It will be good for his small joint no doubt.

I am also looking at the Wusthof Classic cutlery set. This one is expensive. $380 dollars will pinch us, but then, our son does deserve it. It includes Chef’s knife, serrated bread knife, utility knife, paring knife, and sandwich knife apart from shears and the honing tool. I loved its looks. It comes in neat storage block. The blades are a bit smaller. I might buy him some other knives if he wants special ones like bread knife with 10 inches blade, and santoku knife. This set too comes with lifetime warranty so I hope my son will approve of it. I am, of course, open to any other suggestion that my son would have. After all it is his requirement.
